High Availability
With corporations experiencing a move to larger numbers of remote users, accessing increasingly more critical applications and data, the secure remote access service itself becomes a critical infrastructure component. For this reason, AccessAnywhere was designed from the ground up with service availability in mind.
The base appliance includes redundant hot swappable disk drives that mitigate the risk of the most common hardware failure from impacting availability. In the event of a failure in another component of the chassis, a portable System Configuration Card makes chassis changes transparent to other network elements like routers, switches, and host routing and arp tables.
From a software persective, Operating System and component watchdogs ensure that failed services are restarted automiatically.
Beyond the robust availability built into any single AccessAnywhere appliance, AccessAnywhere can also be configured in pairs (or more) to provide high-availability in either an active-active or active-standby architecture.
AccessAnywhere can also be deployed in a HA scenario, when the Enhanced Security Architecure is utilized. In this case a deployment would consist of four systems, two ESA appliances in the DMZ and two AccessAnywhere appliances on the production network.
